George Distefano, along with his wife Nancy, started Distefano Orchards back in 1940 to start growing the world famous palisade peaches. George ran the orchard working full time at the VA hospital in Grand Junction, CO until 1985 when he retired. At that time, he became a full time farmer. Peaches and Cherries were his passion. In 2016, Nancy passed away. Followed by George in 2018, leaving behind one of the best legacy's around.
George left the orchards to his grandson, Derrick Selan. Derrick has been heavily involved in all facets of running the orchards for over 20 years, but officially took over in 2018 after George's passing. History of growing Palisade Peaches will continue.
If a family operation is important, you have found the right place. George and Nancy always took great pleasure in having family around, and that has not changed under Derrick's supervision. Derrick's wife Mandy, daughter Rhyan, sister Jessica, and father Dave are all active members of the Distefano Orchards team.
